In any given organization, employees access several Software as a Service (SaaS) tools every day. This requires the users to maintain a different set of credentials for every app they use, posing a serious security problem from managing multiple credentials. Moreover, employees are now expected to access these apps from different locations, be it from their office or at home, or in public areas, increasing the likelihood of security issues.
Single sign-On (SSO) is a centralized session and user authentication service in which one set of login credentials can be used to access multiple applications including email, tools for marketing, analytics, project management, data storage and so on.
As a customer-centric company, MoEngage always focused on investing in features that help our customers with security, scale, and ease of use.
We are glad to announce that MoEngage now supports Single Sign-On. With Single Sign-On, your employees can use their organization credentials to log-in or access MoEngage from any device or any location, without compromising on the security. With this feature, you can easily eliminate the use of simple passwords that present a security risk, while also improving productivity with one-click access to MoEngage.
Currently, MoEngage Single Sign-On supports four major identity providers — Google Cloud Identity, Okta, Azure, OneLogin. We also offer the flexibility to integrate any other identity management provider of your choice.
SSO can help your employees login seamlessly into the applications that they use frequently, including MoEngage. They are spared from the need of having to remember the username or password. Along with seamless access, it also gives several benefits that will cheer you as an admin and your users alike.
The wide majority of security breaches stem from poor password hygiene. Poor password hygiene is a direct result of too many usernames and passwords to remember. In fact, the data breach of Dropbox in 2016 happened because of one employee reusing a password at work.
SSO provides a permanent fix to this. It reduces data breach risk by reducing the need to remember multiple credentials or reuse. Users are required to remember just one credential the access to which can be enriched with a strong username and password.
Creating separate usernames and passwords for each individual user and for every application that they use is a tedious and time-consuming task. Moreover, managing all these access control models can sap the admin’s productivity.
With SSO, it’s not only easy for your employees to access various applications with one set of credentials, but it’s also easy for an admin to revoke an employee’s access to various applications. For example, if an employee has left the organization, disabling his/her organization credentials will revoke his access to all applications like MoEngage (that support SSO) at once.
On any given day, users have to hop from one application to another to fetch data, plan campaign workflows and to do other several other tasks. This requires the user to log in and out of applications numerous times. This practice is unproductive and is a serious waste of resources. The folks at OneLogin estimate that 68% of employees switch between ten apps every hour. So, creating a seamless logging feature through SSO can actually save a substantial amount of time. This will maximize productivity as well.
